Raleigh Coatings' site in Eccleshall impresses everyone who visits it. But persuading people to make the journey can be tough. That's pretty frustrating for a company with such a compelling proposition. There's even a test coating line that allows new processes to be trialled and de-bugged before going to full production. That fact alone can save customers thousands as well as - usually more importantly - weeks.

Raleigh asked us to develop a virtual visit on CD-ROM. We followed two "customers" on a tour of Raleigh's facilities, guided by Technical Director Pete Turton. Through their eyes we see what makes Raleigh special. In Pete's words as he wraps up the piece "When you do come to visit us in person, you'll wish you'd done it sooner."

Multiple Applications From One Project The Raleigh CD-ROM uses our Configurative system to return additional benefit from the project. A configuration menu, not available to Raleigh's customer, allows Raleigh to set the system as a self-running "silent salesman" for exhibitions, as a spacebar-driven PowerPoint-type presentation, or in full interactive mode. The same menu also allows them to embed customer logos and change running order for custom offerings to specific clients. |

Interrupting the Action This production uses a technique we picked up a good few years ago when we were developing retail multimedia. We tend to call it the interactive documentary. It's a great way of maintaining the flow of a proposition without leaving your audience behind. As certain sub-issues become relevant to the narrative, an icon appears that allows the user to interrupt the action and drill down for more information. Here we've clicked to see the specification for the reverse roll coating line. The video has paused and it's waiting while we read the information. |
